Started in 1989 as "Barely Legal Promotions", the company
served as a promotions and merchandise company primarily
used to promote shows for local and out of town bands. In
1994 "Barely Legal Promotions" evolved into "Barely Legal
Records" whose debut release "Punk: The Next Generation"
sold more than 3000 copies on 3 continents. BLR signed a
small handful of bands that made waves regionally with one
band even catching the interest of Arista Records in NYC. |

The company released a couple records, realizing that in
order to make a splash as a record label more funding
would be required. The company temporarily retreated from
the record business and concentrated on what it does best,
Marketing. BLR Entertainment was born in1997 and
immediately started developing
web sites,
press kits and developing marketable identities for it's
clients. Eventually other professionals were brought in to
accommodate the demand for other services which include
photography, bio writing,
graphic design, grant-writing and overall
career consultation. Currently BLR is used as a
development ground to find bands to sign to it's sister
company and nationally distributed label
Tin House
Records. |

In 2002 the company took on a music publishing division
and created the
Spring Music Festival and Conference after
spending many years with Toronto monster event, Canadian
Music Week. In December 2003
Mastermind Studio, which is continuously and
solidly booked nearly two months in advance, opened it's
doors and has developed a reputation as the music-friendly
studio in southern Ontario, offering many of BLR's
products as well as CD manufacturing. If you wish to
contact one of our development reps, or speak with one of
our A&R reps, please feel free to call us at
(905)730-MUSIC(6874), we'd be happy to help. |
